Safer Campus Living Facilities Made Quickly and Easily:

Home at the University, the dorm room...

The dormitory is a special place for college and university students.  It is where they call home, a small room usually shared by two students, within a large number of building structures.  Three to four years of residence in that small space is where they learn how to become educationally and socially better and stronger human beings.  Covid-19 may be now robbing young students of some of this existential experience, their life-changing emotional and mental growth as they strengthen their psychological and general aptitude.

Young people are longing to return to their campus, sooner.   The Sibrid Education Model proposal facilitates for the safe and cautious reopening of colleges and universities.   Young people can and should return to their campuses for fall 2020.  While it is clear that college and university students will be reliable and responsible during these challenging times, for the very few that might be misguided, their reentry acceptance should be met with appropriately written, strict and enforceable CDC and school Covid-19-specific dormitory and overall campus rules and regulations.

HIRED CONTRACTORS OR SCHOOL BUILDING MAINTENANCE

Schools allocate funds to fit all dormitory rooms with professional curtain railings or tracks. This work should require minimal preparation time, and depending on the number of dorm rooms to be fitted, completion time can be 1 to 3 weeks.

DIY SAFER DORM ROOMS

The following items from your favorite hardware store will bring your home away from home up to speed:

Pole Socket Kits to hold the curtain poles in place - from $2 to $7 - The less expensive

ones will work great.

Poles to hold the curtain partition in place - from $12 to $40 - Again, the less expensive ones will work, but make sure you get the correct length measurement.  If the length between the two walls is longer than 6 feet, depending on the weight of the curtain, the center of the pole will sag and possibly break.  Make sure the pole is sturdy for the weight of the curtain, or just make sure the curtain is very light weight.

Curtains, transparent or opaque - roommates decide,  to complete the job by safely partitioning the shared living space - from $8 to $75 - Again, the less expensive ones will do the job, but make sure you get the correct height and width measurements.  Oh yeah, just get some shower curtains or extra sheets from mom, nothing fancy.

MEDICAL READINESS AND CLEANLINESS

A First Aid Kit and all prescriptions should be near.  Roommates should be aware of possible emergencies and what to do.   Definitely, each person should have a personal thermometer for daily temperature checks, or a handheld infrared thermometer can be shared.  Finally, one or two small portable air purifiers/air filtration units, ample sanitizing products, face masks or face covering fabric and/or face shields, and constant hand-washing will help keep most pollutants from getting too far away from its source.
